New Life For The Longbranch Inn

Grand Old Austin Tour: Nickel City

Established in 1935, the Longbranch Inn qualifies as one of Austin's ten most historic establishments - which made the news of it's closing last fall a monumental bummer. Luckily the guys who have been setting the local pizza world on fire with Via 313 managed to gain control of the space, which they have re-opened as Nickel City, along with a food trailer called Del-Ray Cafe - all with an eye to preserving the history of the Longbranch, which we find to be quite commendable. I enjoyed a nice Old Fashioned as proprietors Brandon Hunt and Travis Tober gave me the 411.
