Paid sick leave, for some of us, is a bit of a given - and for that same bunch of us, it may not occur that not having paid sick leave can present serious life challenges and health hazards for all of us: the kid with the flu whose single dad can't afford to miss work, so the kid ends up infecting his whole class - or perhaps the working woman who can't take the time away from work to deal with a stalker or a domestic harassment problem for risk of losing her job or being unable to afford groceries. These are both impossible decisions, and unacceptable situations.

Texas (and the United States as a whole) are far behind most of the rest of the developed world, where the opportunity to earn paid sick leave is considered a protected right. A group of Austin City Council Members, led by Greg Casar of District 4, are seeking your input on a resolution that would continue Austin's tradition of forging new ground for her citizens.
