Austin Public Health’s zip code breakdown shows both the 78660 and 78741 zip codes with the most cases. Although Interim Health Authority Dr. Mark Escott said you should take those numbers with a grain of salt because they don’t paint a full picture. “The zipcodes represent where the individuals live. Not where they may have been exposed.”
But he did add it’s worth keeping tabs on to further protect yourself from transmission. Escott said Austin Public Health will also start offering up weekly reports on these hotspots in hopes of increasing awareness.
