KGSR Music News
7/13/2010
The folks behind the ACL Music Festival have released the day-by-day schedules, aka the grid for the sold-out 2010 festival in October. With the grid, the news is always the conflicts- bands playing at the same time you’ll have to choose between.
Friday: Your first festival day offers a midday collision of the Broken Bells and Black Keys on opposite ends of the park at exactly the same time. Academy award winner Ryan Bingham is onstage the same time as not just Vampire Weekend and Sonic Youth, but also Robert Randolph. Phish vs. The Strokes is you headlining match-up for Friday.
Saturday: The Monster Of Folk show is slotted for a full two hours, 6-8pm, which is good because you can bet some fans are going to want to split to catch some LCD Soundsystem who are on 6:30-7:30p. Muse and MIA do battles as headliners.
Sunday: The final day’s biggest clash is between the Flaming Lips, one of the festival circuit’s most entertaining bands ever, and The Band Of Horses, who if not for the Lips might have had one of the festival’s largest non-headliner crowds. The Eagles close things out Sunday night with no competition at all, as is Sunday night headlining tradition.
