Mumford & Sons is on Hiatus!

Don't freak out the way I did after the Foo Fighters made a similar announcement last year - this isn't goodbye forever, it's just goodbye for now. It's been a long few years for the band since they broke on the scene in 2010. They wrote much of Babel while on the road for Sigh No More and went right from touring to the studio to adjusting to monstrously sized venues ... and let's not forget that terrifying news of the blood clot in bassist Ted Dwane's brain, which he found the day after their shows at Austin360 Amphitheater in June.

What exactly does "indefinite" mean? "We have no idea," keyboardist Ben Lovett told Rolling Stone after their last show for a long while this past Friday night. "We just know we’re going to take a considerable amount of time off and just go back to hanging out and having no commitments or pressure or anything like that. It feels like the last week of school right now, before school holiday when you’re in high school. The atmosphere on the road is one of ... I think everyone’s excited about being free of schedules."

We'll keep you updated.
