Feb 1-3 Weekend Suggestions
2/1/2013 11:14:00 AM
Hey, I planned your weekend for you!
TONIGHT, you could see Nakia at the Saxon Pub at 9pm. He's just announced his new EP, Down in the Crimson Tide, and I'm hoping he plays some of those great tunes tonight (yes I've heard them and can't wait until you have, too). The lovely Cari Hutson follows him at 11pm. Get your tickets here.
SATURDAY, start your day at the Austin Sertoma Club's 8th annual pancake breakfast fundraiser for the TX School for the Deaf (at their South Congress location). It's only $6 for adults and kids 6 & under eat free.
Then, take some free dance classes! In addition to being Groundhog Day, Feb 2nd also marks Austin's 5th Annual Free Day of Dance. Studios all over town are offering sessions, so check out that one you've secretly wanted to try for a while. More information can be found here.
After that, I hope you can come meet me at Emo's for the Toro y Moi show. I'm crazy excited about seeing their opener, Wild Belle. I should mention this one is sold out. Sorry.
But I bet you can still get tickets for Carnaval Brasiliero! Austin's Brazilian-style Marti Gras celebration. The non-stop samba party starts at 9pm and goes until past 2am. Get your tickets to the city's biggest party at the Palmer Events Center here (and don't forget to dress the part).
SUNDAY, isn't there some football game on ...?
