o0o, look at this shiny new blog!! I must admit it's been a while since I updated one of these regularly, so bear with me until I've got regular content going (which should be soon).
For my first blog of the new year, I wanted to highlight one of the artists I put on my top ten list for last year (as found here), because I kinda cheated a little on #3 - Fionn Regan's The Bunkhouse Vol 1: Anchor Black Tattoo. That album was really only released in the UK last year and still appears to only be available via import on Amazon, though it will hopefully be getting a US release later this year ... and then, I pray, Mr. Regan will schedule a US tour!
I've been an immediate fan since coming across his 2006 debut album, The End of History, and still have not seen the man live. It exasperates me, but I digress. I don't know how you digest music, but I personally am constantly looking for the next album to be obsessed with - and this one hit me so hard, I listened to it 80x the month after I discovered it. Perhaps it was the chilly, damp fall in New England that made them feel so perfect to me, so I hope the warming southern winter doesn't turn you off to these haunting, skeletal songs that he plays mostly with one guitar and the lightest accompaniments.
If you're a fan of Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, and Damien Rice; please enjoy this charming video of his very first single, "Be Good or Be Gone."
