7/6/2012
With all the live music options available in Austin, it can be a little overwhelming. So we're sifting through the concert calendar to offer up some suggestions that might be worth your time.
Summerland Tour 2012
Friday July 6, ACL Live at the Moody Theater, 7:00 P.M.
Hangin' round, downtown by yourself? Hit up the '90s revival tour with Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit and Marcy Playground. It's time to dust-off your plaid and hair gel. Don't be a wet blanket who doesn't sing along, though...you're not fooling anyone. We know you still have all the lyrics memorized.
Suzanna Choffel

Friday July 6, Threadgill's, 10:00 P.M.
Austin-native Suzanna Choffel has traveled down from her new home in Brooklyn with her sultry voice and rhythmic guitar to play at Threadgill's on Friday. This equal parts jazz, blues and indie act has a distinct Texan sound with a mixture of just about every other genre with a whole lotta soul.
Ringo's Birthday Party
Saturday July 7, The Parish, 8:00 P.M.
Wish Ringo Starr a fabulous 72nd birthday and head over to The Parish to celebrate. Musicians from around Austin will play their version of some of your favorite Beatles tracks. Ringo's Birthday Party will feature tributes by Peter Shultz and Nick Garza of Hello Wheels, Brian Fergesun of Hello Caller, Evan Charles of the Sweet Nuthin, Dusty Rhodes of Mother Falcon, Waldo and the Naturals, Marshall Newman of the Frontier Brothers and Big Ol Band. Bonus: if you dress up like your favorite Beatle, you can get in for free (it might help if your favorite Beatle is Ringo).
