LORIS LOWE

At an early age, I decided to follow the immortal advice of Jim Morrison, and "specialize in havin' fun."
And I've been able to hone that skill, working all of my adult life in radio—the perfect job the music-obsessed - that's me. Plus, the job comes with free CD's and concert tickets, and the opportunity to meet and interview bands?! I was so there.

Texas Radio and the Big Beat
It all started at the college radio station in Odessa, TX, which led to on-air jobs at both a local country and rock station. Then came a 4-year stint at 'FMX in Lubbock. But the goal was to get to Austin—the perfect city for someone specializing in havin' fun. I finally made it, right down the hall at KLBJ-FM, where I rocked and rolled for a whole lotta years, with particular attention to local bands.

Break on Through
Nowadays I feel very blessed to be a part of the staff of KGSR, one of the most revered stations in the country. And the perfect job for a music lover whose tastes run deep and wide.

The havin' fun part is still going strong, too.

I have been invited to be a distinguished celebrity judge at TEXAS BREW-B-QUE's BBQ Team Challenge Competition this Saturday at Waterloo Park.  Categories include pork ribs, brisket, homemade sausage, beer can chicken, plus sauces, marinades and homemade rubs.  Yes, I can do that.
See ya there!

SXSW is here!
And I'm not ready!!  Usually, I have my precision shedule all made out by now, including day parties, afterparties, and where the morning bloody mary is coming from, but this year, I'm way behind.  All I have down on the calendar are the Whaddya Want for Lunches on Thurs and Fri, and the free show at Auditorium Shores Friday with Bob Schneider, Raul Malo, and the Arc Angels.  Plus Devo, and a couple of day parties.
Help!
