Susan's Page

Susan is a corn-fed Midwestern gal from East Chicago, a steel mill town just down wind - and it’s a smelly one - from the Windy City. The often overlooked middle child of three daughters, Susan embarked on a radio career to find “someone, anyone” who would listen to her. Her first gig materialized at WZVN in the tiny farming town of Lowell, Indiana at the coincidental frequency of 107.1 FM. She then landed at Satellite Music Network in uber-suburban Chicago working weekends at the Adult Contemporary format. 250 affliates. She was bad, nationwide…literally. Soon after, she delivered the news as the morning weekday newscaster on SMN’s “The Wave” format segueing into midday droner till she got canned. After a brief stint at WLIT in Chicago as a part-time, fill in deejay, Susan left the frozen north for the balmy greenness of Austin in April of 1990. Her tenure at KGSR continues to confound even her best friends.

When she’s not busy being Music Director and midday deejay for the award-winning KGSR for 17 booze-filled years, she’s busy keeping up with her 10 year-old daughter “Petunia”, who has taken the art of the tweener eye roll to new heights. They live in Lakeway with two fish and a kitty. You can e-mail Susan any time at scastle@kgsr.com.
