My journey began in Cowtown U.S.A. (FT. Worth). I grew up an Air Force brat in Las Vegas, Italy, Ohio and Louisianna. The crazy college years were in San Marcos attending SWTS, now Texas State. I had many musical lost weekends at The Animal House and Cheatham Street Warehouse and, after spending just as many lost weekends up here in Austin hitting Liberty Lunch, The Texas Opry House, Antone's, Soap Creek...I decided to move to the A-town in 1984.
I answered an ad in the Statesman and landed my first radio job at KTXZ AM 1560, did weekends and hosted a live radio show from Steamboat on 6th street. That really got me "in tune" with the scene here and I was hooked! Since 1987 I have been on 1071 KGSR, thru five owners and different formats. In 1990 Jody Denberg landed the one that would stick - "Radio Austin" - and it's been a thrill ever since!
I always say "I go on tour, but stay in the same city"! I asked my wife The Fabulous Judy to dance at the Continental Club in 1996 and we've danced at every festival since then.
Life is a dance and I have the best of both worlds, my best friend to share the dance floor with and a radio station to provide the music! I love this town (say it three times in a row)!

Going head to head in a hour long food fight is harder than you think...the pressure
was on! I now have even respect for those Iron-Chefs. However, we did keep it upbeat and fun...and even though Kate's dish was quite good, the judges went with...
