All Proceeds of Pi-Priced Pies Benefit Capital Area Food Bank

Three Austin-based pie companies, Tiny Pies, Cake & Spoon and The Pie Society, are celebrating National Pi Day (March 14) by giving back to the community they love by offering select pie products at $3.14, with all proceeds benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas (CAFB).

“Last year we conducted this donation event on our own, but wanted to make it bigger and better for the CAFB,” said Emily Kealey, co-founder of The Pie Society. “We couldn’t be more honored to have such heavy hitters as Cake & Spoon and Tiny Pies to donate their time and energy toward this as well, and hopefully, make the donation that much larger this year.”

The $3.14 offerings made by each company include:
• Cake & Spoon’s: Four-and-a-half inch Buttermilk and Lemon Chess Pies
• The Pie Society’s: Five-inch pies of Pecan; Oh My Guinness Pie and Strawberry Kiss (strawberry, rhubarb and basil)
• Tiny Pies’: “Pie of the Month” individual Key Lime Tiny Pies

"We are so thankful for all of the support the Austin community has given us over the past two years," said Amanda Bates, co-owner of Tiny Pies. " It is one of the corner stones of our company to give back to our community and we're delighted to work with these other companies and the CAFB to end hunger."

Call or check each company’s website for their individual ordering instructions and delivery or pick-up details, but all orders must be placed by March 11. Also, canned good donations for the CAFB are encouraged with or without pie orders.

“We are committed as a company to working within our community to reach out to those who most need our help.” said Melissa Brinckman from Cake & Spoon, “we must all do our part to help to fight hunger here in Central Texas.”

CAFB serves 48,000 Central Texans a week, 20,000 of whom are children. The organization distributed 24 million pounds a year of food over the past two years. That's equivalent to the weight of a Boeing 737 in food every day, 365 days of the year.
