Now in its 14th year, the African American Community Heritage Festival will feature the soulful sounds of Grammy Award-winning singer DWELE! This free festival for all ages will also feature music from "Austin's First Lady of Jazz" Pam Hart and other entertainers; arts, dance and crafts; a health fair; and food and fun for all! The Festival will take place at Huston-Tillotson University (900 East Chicon Street) on Saturday, February 23 from 1-5p.m. Pre-event activities include a bike ride with the City of Austin Mayor Pro-tem Sheryl Cole and the Major Taylor Cycling Club, which kicks off approximately at 11:00 a.m. The African American Community Heritage Festival was founded by Representative Dawnna Dukes and is presented in partnership with Huston-Tillotson University, Women in Jazz, City of Austin, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas; with proceeds going to the Huston-Tillotson Scholarship Fund.
