PPHA Wine Tasting Celebration and Fundraiser

The Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas (PPHA) will hold its second annual wine tasting celebration and fundraiser on Thursday, October 25 from 6 – 10 p.m. at the beautiful Shoal Crossing Event Center. The event will help PPHA fund psychiatric care for women battling postpartum depression and mood disorders.

 

This wine tasting social brings Austinites together for a fun, interactive evening raising money for a great cause. Teams of up to three guests are invited to bring three bottles of the same wine. Two of the bottles go into a blind tasting and are scored by party-goers throughout the night. At the end of the evening, the scores for each wine are calculated and the guest who brings the winning wine takes home the “Jackpot,” one bottle of each of the wine entries – over 100 bottles total! The event will feature hors d'oeuvres by Blevins Best Catering and music by Sherah.

 

Austin women’s health and mental health professionals founded PPHA in 2010 to address the critical need for a better, more cohesive system of care for the estimated 2,400 families in Central Texas struggling with postpartum mood disorders annually. We envision a community where women and families have the support they need during pregnancy and beyond.

 

While many families are impacted by postpartum mood disorders, it’s often difficult for new mothers to get the urgent care they need. Families in crisis face prohibitive out of pocket expenses and wait lists of four months or more. Our voucher program will fill a critical need, funding immediate care for underinsured women.

 

Additionally, PPHA’s website serves as a clearinghouse for local resources, including a screened list of obstetricians, midwives, psychiatrists, therapists, and holistic care practitioners with expertise in treating postpartum mood disorders.
