We could not imagine a world without music ... could you?
On October 7, 2012, The Spirit of Texas Ride will be held to support our Wimberley High School music program. The event is a 10, 20, 40 and 63 mile bike ride through picturesque Wimberley and the Texas Hill Country. The event is being put together and sponsored by the Wimberley ‘Spirit of Texas Band’ Boosters.
Wimberley ISD has had funding cuts from the State as well as increased Chapter 41 payments to the state have been felt everywhere in the district and the music program was no exception. The parents have taken the challenge this has created and worked very hard to make up the shortfalls in financing the band program. This Fall they will host an event offering multiple distances in a ride which will solely benefit that program. It will also help pay for the upcoming Spring Trip which will include a trip to Washington D.C. to play at the Lincoln Memorial during the Celebration for the 40th Anniversary of MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech. This event will also have a raffle associated with prizes ranging from a Fender Guitar signed by Willie Nelson, Edge 800 Garmin, a weekend getaway to Port Aransas and the list goes on and on.(See website for all.)
Please join us October 7, 2012 for this event. Register on the website or if you can’t make it, please consider a tax-deductible contribution to the organization to help keep the music playing!
