Grand Old Austin Tour: The Nighthawk Frisco Shop

I've been throwing the occasional chow at The Frisco Shop on Burnet since I moved to town in the early 90's, and carried my affinity for the contents of that iconic pie case forward from my slacker single days into fatherhood, as the pie provides a perfect bribe for my son to cooperate with getting his hair cut at Bird's across the street.

Lots of history behind the Frisco and its erstwhile sister Nighthawk restaurants (read up HERE) that figures into the progressive nature of Austin and is something of which we should be mindful and quite proud. I caught up with manager Tina Koch in the dining room, within eyeshot of all that pie - I had to struggle to stay focused, and just may have had a slice on my way out! Check out our conversation below!
