Blue October Play Emotional Show For Woofstock
A capacity crowd lined up at Threadgill's on Sunday for Woofstock, featuring an acoustic set from Blue October. No tickets were sold--everyone there had made a donation to Austin area animal shelters in exchange for free tickets. And the tickets went fast! At all three of our donation stops, we gave away 93 pairs of tickets within 15 minutes to kind-hearted Blue October fans who donated dog and cat food and toys and supplies for the shelters. At the Austin Pets Alive remote alone, $500 in cash was donated, along with an estimated $1,000 worth of supplies.
It had been a couple of years since I had been to a Blue October show, and, standing at the side of the stage, I saw fans singing along to every word, and some were even moved to tears by the emotional lyrics from frontman Justin Furstenfeld. And it was great to see Justin backstage with his daughter and his wife, who is pregnant. Mom said that their daughter really wanted to get on stage and sing. Justin's brother, drummer Jeremy Furstenfeld says that there are a "whole bunch of little Blues running around on stage before every show, " as all the band members are parents these days.
Special thanks to Blue October and Tomlinson's, and to Threadgill's for hosting.
