Where to Watch the Total Eclipse on Monday

From Bastrop to Johnson City, there are mulitple places right here in the Austin-area that we can utilize to view the total eclipse on Monday, August 21.

If you haven't made your plans yet, the Statesmen is here to help, with a full list.

Here's a preview for where to go during your lunch break:

Right here in Austin

North Austin Eclipse Party is at the Wells Branch Community Library - 11:30-2 p.m.

15001 Wells Port Drive, Austin.

They'll have free solar glasses, refreshments and information about the eclipse during this viewing party. 

Over in Bastrop

Bastrop State Park Viewing - 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

100 Park Road 1A, Bastrop

For just $5 for 12 and up, The Bastrop State Park will teach you about what eclipses are, how they happen and how animal behaviors change as the sky gets darker in the middle of the day.  Glasses are provided.

Down in Buda

Buda Eclipse Party is at the Buda library lawn-  12-2 p.m.

303 Main St, Buda

Get there early for activities, art and stories, or show up just in time to watch the partial eclipse at 1:10 p.m. Library will provide solar glasses for safe viewing.
