The Recording Academy's official list of nominations for the 2018 Grammy awards were announced Tuesday morning and lineup is a true reflection of several huge shifts in the state of popular culture and today's music industry. One trend we're noticing is the abundance of first-time nominees this year, including Portugal. The Man with their hit single "Feel It Still", Alessia Cara who's up for the coveted Best New Artist title with two additional noms for "1-800-273-8255", and Father John Misty, one of the contenders for the Best Alternative Album with Pure Comedy.

It's also the best year yet for diversity amongst this year's "Big 4" contenders (Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year) in a nearly unprecidented occurence, all nominees are a minority. Marking only the second time in Grammy history that there has been four artists of color nominated for Album of the Year at the same time, and the first time in 19 years that the category had not one white male nominee.

This year's list of noms is also breaking records for its lack of Nashville: this will be the first time since 2004 that country artists were completely snubbed from all of the "Big 4" categories.

So many major shake-ups from the norm this year and we can wait to tune in! The big night goes down Sunday, January 28th and will broadcast live on CBS from Madison Square Garden. See below for nomination highlights and click here to check out the full breakdown. Congrats to all of 2018's nominees!
