Austin's Tech Workers Earning 39% More Than NYC According to New Report

Time to make room for a giant wave of techie transplants: Austin is officially the major market with the highest salaries for tech workers according to a new study from Hired. While the San Francisco Bay Area tech industry technically has the highest salary on paper (coming in at $142,000 on average), the Hired report takes local costs of living into consideration for an adjusted salary ranking that sends the Bay Area down to 10th place. The rapid growth of Austin's tech industry paired with lower housing costs compared to the other major metropolises on the list put us in the #1 spot; inflating the actual $118,000 average salary to an adjusted $202,000 based on living costs. Pretty sweet!
