Antone's Could See a Comeback Thanks to Gary Clark Jr.

Antone's, one of the music venues that helped put Austin on the map as the "Live Music Capital of the World," could be returning to the scene thanks to co-owner of Lamberts, Will Bridges, and Grammy Award-winning (and one of our favorites) Gary Clark Jr.

The venue has been in a state of flux ever since leaving downtown in favor of an East Riverside location in late 2013. However, after transfer of ownership headed by geneticist Dr. Spencer Wells, the club will hopefully be returning to downtown in the central business district, according to the new owners.

GCJ has a personal connection to Antone's after getting his start there with the help of mentor and Antone's owner, Clifford Antone, before he passed away in 2006, and we're hoping that his partnership will help resurrect Antone's and the blues scene in Austin.

Clark and Bridges, who also co-owns Arylyn Studios and Deep Eddy Cabaret, make a strong team - both being Austinites with a combined knowledge of the blues scene and business contacts - so we have our fingers crossed this is the Antone's comeback we've been waiting for!
