What To Do In The 512
Every Thursday morning Kelly Stocker from Yelp comes in to let us know some of the cool stuff in Austin. Put on your little black dress, grab the ladies or get hubs all dressed up in pants that aren't cargo shorts. It's time to enjoy some of the city's finest... without breaking the bank. Here are our picks for fabulous gourmet happy hours around town. Listen to the radio bit up top or read below.
Jeffreys: 4:30–6:30 Tuesday – Saturday , all night on Sunday & Monday
Featuring half price bar food and $2 off each cocktail, beer, and glass of wine. The bar area can get crowded so go early and/or call to reserve a seat. Our faves are the Wagyu Burger and the Brotherly Love cocktail.
Uchiko: 5pm until 6:30pm daily
Uchiko is tried and true. Not exactly new but always surprising in its great selection for the saké social. Unfiltered takara nigori is $3 and they offer items like the machi ringo (marinated yellowtail, green apple, edamame, shiso) and the crunchy spicy tuna hand roll for $6.
Arro: Weekday happy hour 5-7pm
Ooh la la! Arro calls their happy hour Cinq à Sept and everything on the special menu is priced at either five and seven dollars.
La V: Tues - Sat, 5 pm. to 6:30 p.m (bar, wine bar and patio)
Their "mezzes," range from $1.50 - $7 and they've got $8 specialty cocktails and $7 glasses of wine. Our picks are the harissa chicken wings and the salt cod fritters.
Eddie Vs: All day Sun & Mon, every other day 4 -7pm (in the bar)
$2 off drinks and wine, 1/2 price appetizers, a great little jazz band and fantastic service. Love the ahi tuna starter there, the giant crab cake and the $1 oysters.
