Yet each year, the influx of bands that infiltrate Zilker Park for the annual Austin City Limits fest never fails to astound. Head to our photo galleries page to see some photos of the weekend's happenings, when huge national acts grace the stage where many Austinites spend Sunday afternoons throwing a frisbee around.

As per usual, we had a wonderful time this year, ringing in the days' events with listeners and musicians at Threadgill's, including Patrick Watson, The Eastern Sea, Michael Kiwanuka, Ben Howard, LP, and more. Backstage at the fest, the fun continued, as we welconed even more of your KGSR favorites, including Old 97's, Gotye, Gary Clark Jr. and tons of others.

Be sure to stay tuned for video of those performances and interviews!

You may be able to recognize the man behind the stage name, Joshua Tillman, from a stint as the drummer for Fleet Foxes. Tillman released his first album Fear Fun as Father John Misty early this year. Here you can check out his music video for "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings" with actress/comedian Aubrey Plaza.

Not that they ever really left. This alt-country band from Dallas did release a new album only last year, but these guys are going back to the good ole days with a re-release of one of their most successful albums as well as a new tour.

In order to celebrate the 15th birthday of their hit album, Too Far to Care, the Old 97's released a special re-issue yesterday with more songs and demos that didn't make it on to the original one in 1997. And, as a bonus, they're going on a tour this fall starting with their performance at ACL this Sunday.

Even if you're not an Old 97's fan or if you've never even heard of them before, they are a great act to check out at ACL. The band is known for their amazing and energetic live performances. If you've been to Blues on the Green or other KGSR events, you may recognize Rhett Miller as the frontman for the Old 97's.

You can listen to "Holy Cross" here, one of the old-but-new-to-us songs from the re-issue, and you can also get a little taste of what it would be like to see them live below.

Who: Old 97's
When: Sunday, Oct. 14 at 6:15 p.m.
Where: ACL Festival, Austin Ventures Stage

You may recognize her from that one song you used to jam to all the time, Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know." Her debut album, Vows, was only released here in the States earlier this year and immediately got all the way to number 14 on the Billboard charts. This native New Zealander does a great job of blending pop and soul with a little electronic vibe. Her music video for the song, "Come Into My Head" was just released a few weeks ago and you can watch it below.

His slightly raspy voice and simple riffs put the focus on his truly beautiful lyrics. Gundersen's latest EP, Family, was just released in August and features the violin and vocals from his sister, Abby, who's been playing music with him since they were a lot younger. Listen to his song "Cigarettes" below and check him out on at ACL on Sunday.

Freelance Whales. These guys know how to rock both the electronic and acoustic, from the glockenspiel to a synthesizer. Their folksy edge mixed with bits of delicate background vocals and keyboard are perfect easy-listening. What started as the solo project of singer/songwriter Matthew Hines, the collective has evolved since 2005 to become a seven-man-band. You may remember them from playing at KGSR's Blues on the Green in August, but if you didn't get a chance to see them then, you can watch them at ACL. The Eastern Sea's second album, Plague, just came out over the summer. Take a look at their music video for the single, "A Lie" below.

The NYC-based jazzy afro-beat ensemble has quite literally toured all over the world, which is easy tell from their eclectic sound. Their most recent album, also called Antibalas, was released earlier this year with the single "Dirty Money." And if you like your beats mixed with puppets, then watch their music video for the song.

He released his first album Home Again this past summer, which caught on pretty quickly in his native UK and is spreading around stateside. What's so impressive is that Kiwanuka managed to build an audience as a soul singer, but his sound isn't straight Motown. Between the big horns and swinging beats, he interjects softer, folky-er ballads.
