Downtown Austin Farmer's Market
Support local farms, ranches, dairies and nurseries in downtown Austin! The Austin Farmers' Market (AFM), a growers-only market, is an exciting and bountiful place to buy your fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs and plants. When you shop at the AFM, you get the freshest, most delicious foods available from the growers themselves! There are plentiful prepared foods, farm products turned into jams, salsas and honey, and hand-made crafts. Chef's demos, children's activities, and live local musicians make supporting local growers fun! Located in the heart of downtown at Republic Square Park (4th and Guadalupe), the market is a vital part of the community and the Austin experience. The Market is a project of the Sustainable Food Center http://www.sustainablefoodcenter.org/default.asp
Now offers a new environmental water program called - "Fill Er Up" - Purchase a big new market water bottle (made of non-leaching plastic, of course) for only $3 and fill it up with clean filtered water each week when you shop!

Goodwill Industries of Central Texas
Goodwill’s computer recycling program, GreenWorks, processes approximately 250 tons of electronic waste per month, diverting this toxic waste from landfills. Revenue from recycling and reselling electronic waste supports job services that connect Central Texans to meaningful employment. We are always in need of volunteers to participate in the de-manufacturing of donated systems. This is a great team building opportunity for groups ranging from 10 to 50. IBM and Dell are recent companies that have coordinated groups to assist in our GreenWorks project.
For more information on Goodwill’s programs and services, events or volunteer opportunities, visit our website at www.austingoodwill.org. |
